What is handmade bead art?
Handmade bead art is a picture built entirely from beads. Instead of paint on canvas, the image is made of thousands of tiny beads, each one woven into place individually by hand, row by row, until flowers, borders and lettering appear. Nothing is printed and nothing is made by machine.
The works in this gallery are handwoven bead art made by a single artist in Türkiye. Many are designed like carpets — a central medallion, mirrored motifs and ornamental borders — but are made of beads rather than wool, and are meant to be hung and looked at closely as beaded wall art. Step close and the surface resolves into individual beads; step back and it becomes a single, glowing composition.
Each piece is an original, offered directly by the artist’s family. Learn how to buy original bead artwork or browse the collection.
Styles
Beaded wall art in four styles
Floral bead art
Symmetrical bouquets, rosettes and scrolling vines on ivory, cobalt and turquoise grounds. Petals, leaves and stems are drawn one bead at a time, so colour changes are crisp and every flower reads clearly. See Floral Medallion with Turquoise Border (BAG-001).
Carpet-inspired bead art
Central medallions, wide ornamental borders and mirrored motifs in the spirit of a woven carpet, built entirely from beads. Borders are as carefully worked as the centre. See Floral Medallion with Turquoise Border (BAG-001).
Geometric bead art
Hooked, interlaced and key-like motifs in saffron, cobalt and red, with kilim-style borders and strict geometry that suits the grid of the bead surface. See Ochre Field with Geometric Medallion (BAG-005).
Arabic calligraphy bead art
Lettering translated into beads: black script on an ivory field inside a dotted terracotta border. The exact wording is published only once it has been confirmed. See Arabic Calligraphic Composition (BAG-006).
Collecting
Why collect handwoven bead art
- A true original. Each work is woven by hand by the artist; it is not a print, a kit or a reproduction.
- Detail you can study. Individual beads, clean rows and sharp borders reward close viewing in a way flat prints cannot.
- Colour with depth. Beads are small points of colour, so palettes of turquoise, cobalt, crimson and saffron stay vivid and shift subtly with the light in the room.
- Presence on a wall. Framed beaded wall art has texture and pattern that anchors a room — for homes, offices and exhibitions alike.
- A human story. One maker, one family, and a craft practised bead by bead. Read about the artist.
Craftsmanship
How handwoven bead art is made
This is bead weaving art in the most literal sense. Every work follows the same patient sequence:
- Plan the composition. Because a mistake cannot be painted over, the whole pattern — medallion, motifs, borders — is worked out before the first bead is placed.
- Choose the colours. Each area of the design is assigned a bead colour, with fine dark lines used to outline and unify.
- Weave every bead by hand. Beads are woven in one at a time, row by row, until the pattern emerges.
- Build the borders. Ornamental borders repeat around the work and demand careful counting to stay perfectly symmetrical.
- Present the finished work. The completed piece is mounted and, in several photographs here, framed.
A single piece contains thousands of beads, which is why each one takes so long to complete. Read more about hand bead weaving.
