About This Handmade Bead Artwork
Light and airy, this work is worked almost entirely on white. Down the centre runs a vertical sequence of motifs — a blue blossom, a large golden-yellow and red pendant form, and a layered blue, red and orange flower — from which curving green vines branch out to either side.
Large multicoloured flowers in blue, red, yellow and green hang from the vines, golden curl motifs stand at the sides, and smaller buds and leaves fill the spaces between. The design is mirrored left to right.
The wide white border is drawn with red and green scrolling arabesques, orange rosettes and dense multicoloured blossoms in the corners, separated from the field by a fine red line. Every bead was woven in individually by hand; the work is photographed in a striped wooden frame.
