About This Handmade Bead Artwork
This handcrafted bead artwork is organised like a carpet: a wide turquoise border encloses a light, ivory-coloured field, and every motif inside it is mirrored across both the vertical and the horizontal axis.
At the centre sits a large sky-blue rosette with a golden-orange flower at its heart. Four crimson rosettes surround it on the diagonals, and four larger palmette-like blossoms — layered in orange, gold, cobalt blue and leaf green — point outwards towards the middle of each side. Fine black lines run between them as a network of curving stems, carrying smaller blue blossoms, red and orange buds and green leaves.
The border is worked on a turquoise ground. Rosettes in orange and golden yellow alternate with red buds and curling golden scrolls, threaded with thin red tendrils, and a narrow yellow band separates the border from the central field.
Every bead was woven into place individually, by hand, one at a time, which gives the surface its fine, mosaic-like texture. The work is photographed in a white frame.
