About This Handmade Bead Artwork
The composition is built around a single central medallion: a dark teal, scalloped shape dotted with red and yellow, holding a large yellow lotus-like flower with a red heart. Above it rises a bouquet of burgundy and crimson blossoms on green stems; below, two crimson flowers with broad green leaves balance the design.
Bronze-coloured rosettes, red blooms and curving cobalt leaves are mirrored on either side of the vertical axis, all set on a clean white ground.
Two borders frame the field: an inner cobalt-blue band with orange, red and bronze-toned flowers and scrolling stems, and an outer white band of small green, red and blue flowers between fine black lines. Every bead was woven in individually by hand. The work is photographed unframed, on a light backing board.
